People often research when the “best” time is to visit a place. But going in the off season can be equally enjoyable in a different way. Often times you’ll get the place to yourself, free of other tourists, and you’ll learn far more about the destination. That’s why I went to Siberia, Iceland, and Norway in the dead of winter, and also to India during the monsoon.
Rain is such a part of daily life in India during this time, and seeing the ebb and flow of the cities, and how the color and light changes as the storms move through is fascinating. For this scene, the rains had just ended in Jaiupr, covering the streets with just enough water to create reflections. The yellow lights of Hawa Mahal made a beautiful compliment to the blue of twilight. So I sat and took pictures for a while.
