New Destination Gallery: RUSSIA
Twelve Cities, Six Weeks Worth of Travel
The new Russia gallery is the culmination of about six weeks of travel through Russia on two separate trips. Cities included St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Tyumen, Tomsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Listvyanka and Lake Baikal, Khabarovsk, and Vladivostok. Travel between each city involved a cumulative 16 days worth of train riding on my two trips on the Trans Siberian Railway.
A Natural Look
This gallery marks the continuation of a slow shift away from the “edited” look, instead favoring natural and vintage looks. Perhaps that’s come from my recent reentry into the world of film. A few of the photos in this gallery weren’t edited at all, like this one from Vladivostok (other than the conversion to black and white of course):
Some photos were edited quite a lot, but with a natural look always in mind. This shot from Khabarovsk is actually a 5 shot HDR image. The use of HDR allowed me to maintain details in the bright parts of the church and the dark parts of the steps. In this case, editing helped the shot look more natural.
So have a look
Out of the thousands of pictures I captured in Russia, only 73 made the cut. Check them out here:
